As an Equity actress, Valerie played Margy Frake in the First National Tour of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s State Fair, starring John Davidson, as well as the title role in Cinderella, Maria in The Sound of Music, and Lady Larkin in Once Upon a Mattress. While living in Greece, Valerie appeared in Acis and Galatea, Dido and Aeneas and Trail by Jury, as well as regularly performing as a soloist in concerts and events as varied as Handel’s “Messiah” to singing the national anthem at the United States Embassy. She continues to perform regularly in concerts and cabarets, singing the original work of composer, Dave Tolley, in his annual Christmas concert. She has also performed in staged readings including Lauren Gunderson’s one-woman-play, Natural Shocks, as part of a national theatre campaign against gun violence, and the musical, True North, in Red Mountain Theatre’s Human Rights New Works Festival. Most recently, she appeared as Mother Superior in Red Mountain Theatre’s Sister Act, as “Mom” in a series of commercials for LS Tractor and as the “Nosy Neighbor” for a Bona Floors print ad.
